11-9-08 Lake Lanier Fishing Report
The freeline bite is starting to heat up all over the lake right now.  We are catching some good quality fish on freelined gizzard shad on humps and points just off the main river channel or in the mouths of the creeks.  We have found a few fish in the back of a few creeks but the big groups of them are still hanging close to deeper water.  Keep a topwater plug ready to throw at breaking fish.  I have been doing good with the bone redfin but a few of the other guides have been killing them with a chrome sebile.  Good luck everyone and would like to say thanks to everybody that has booked our boats and look forward to fishing with you again soon.

The summer downrod bite is still going strong.  Most fish are coming on downrod herring 40-60ft down over a 80-100ft bottom.  Lots of fish in the 30ft range but are hard to get them to bite.  The best fishing is from Six Mile to the dam in the river channel or just off the channel in the mouths of the creeks.  Good luck to everyone.

6-27-08 Lake Lanier Fishing Report
The summer time downrod bite is going strong.  Fish your bluebacks 25-40ft down over a 40-85ft bottom in the main river channel or deep pockets just off the channel for the bigger fish.  Tons of smaller fish are still in the backs of most creeks on a 30-40ft bottom.  Pulling leadcore 6-7 colors out with 1 1/2 bucktails are producing a few fish and should continue to get better as the summer gets hotter.

5-18-08 Lake Lanier Fishing Report
We have been catching good numbers of 10-20 pound fish on freelined shad early in the morning and changing to downrods after the sun gets up. The north and south end are producing the same.  Check main lake points for the big schools of fish. The downrod bite should continue to get better as the water temp rises.

THE BIG FISH BITE IS ON!!!  Boated a 38 pounder last week and many in the 20 pound range.  April is going to be the month for trophy fish.  Big baits freelined in the backs of creeks will be the ticket.  Don't miss out book your trip now.  Dates are filling up quick.  678-542-4176

Water temps are on the rise and the big fish are moving shallow feeding on big baits.  Lots of topwater action on schooling fish throwing flukes and my favorite Storms Wild Eye Swim Shad.  Overall fishing has been good the past couple weeks with only a few days when they were locked up and would not bite anything.

1-7-08 Lake Lanier Fishing Report
This has been one of the best winters for fishing.  Downrod trout has still been producing most of the fish.  Bigger fish are coming off freeline shad.  The few times I pulled u-rigs produced a lot of fish.  Fully loaded Capt. Macks 4 arm rig with shad bodies 70-80ft at 1.5-3 mph.  If you have not been out in a while now is a great time to go.  Good Luck.

Water temp is slowing droping. Today it was 53 degrees. The cold front we had this weekend has really turned the fish on. Downrod trout 15-30ft over a 30-65ft bottom has been producing good numbers of fish. If you are looking for big fish pull big shad on freelines across points and flats late in the afrternoon. Hammonds has a good supply of BIG shad.

11-13-07 - Lake Lanier Fishing Report
Water temp is dropping to the high 50s. Freelining shad and trout on the north end of the lake have been producing some big fish. We have had 10 fish in the 20 pound range and 2 that went over 30 in the past two weeks. Hit as many points and flats as you can. Don't be afraid to go back to a spot that you pulled earlier with no action. You have to be there when they are feeding. There is alot of schooling action going on down south. Throwing redfins, spooks, and spoons will produce alot of fish in the 5-10 pound range.

10-22-07 - Lake Lanier Fishing report
Not much has changed from last report. Water temp is 71 degrees and slowly going down. Still catching fish on the south end downrod herring 40-60ft over a 60-100ft bottom. There are a few fish on the north end of the lake feeding on shallow points and flats. These fish can be caught pulling shad or trout on freelines and planner boards. Your best bet for numbers is still south.

10-9-07 - Lake Lanier Fishing Report
Normally this time of year alot of stripers head north but with the heat sticking around the fish are staying south. We are still catching fish on downrod herring from six mile to the dam. In the mornings they are pulling up on a 40ft bottom and mid day they are in the channel. Leadcore bite is about over with this year. Make sure you have some topwater plugs ready for surfacing fish. We are seeing a few come up but not the schools of them like we should see in the next couple of weeks.

9-29-07 - Lake Lanier - The summer bite is still going strong. Big schools of fish running the channel from Vanns Tavern to the dam. Down rod herring 60-80ft over a 100-120ft bottom has been the ticket all week. Seeing lots of fish in the 30-40ft range they are not wanting to bite real well. Lead core is doing good one day and not the next. With the cooler nights we are having the water should cool down a bit and should see a lot more surface activity.

9-3-2007 - Lake Lanier - Nothing has really changed since last report. Leadcore bite is getting better. Most fish we caught yesterday came off 1oz. jigs tipped with herring fished 7-8 colors out. Last week the downrod herring bite was great. Everywhere we went we found huge schools of fish.

8-22-07- Lake Lanier - Fishing has stayed about the same as last report. Good numbers being caught every day on downlined herring 30-80ft over a 60-120ft bottom on the southend in the channel and creek mouths. Leadcore has been producing for some but the few times this past week I pulled it with no luck.

August 9 - Lake Lanier - This has been the best week all summer. Big numbers of fish caught over the channel 30-80ft over 100-120ft bottom. Lots of fish in the 20 pound range. You have to keep changing bait to get hooked up. Early in the morning we are finding them on a 60ft bottom in the mouths of the south end creeks.

July 29 - Lake Lanier - We caught ALOT of fish today. Mostly small but managed a few around 15 pounds. They were hammering herring fished 20-30ft over a 30-50ft bottom all morning at mid lake. The afternoon bite was a little slower but produced the bigger fish. We caught a couple on lead core but downrods over the channel on the southend fished 50-65ft was working the best.

July 19 - Lake Lanier - Report Since our last report we have been catching good numbers of 5-15 pound fish. Early in the morning the bite has been in the mouth of mid to south end creeks 20-35ft over a 30-60ft bottom. Mid day and afternoon has been over the main river channel 30-60ft down over a 90-115ft bottom. Fresh herring is the ticket. If you have lookers but they will not eat put fresh bait on and you will get bit. Leadcore has still been up and down. I have caught a few on 1oz white bucktails with a chartreuse trailer fished 8 colors out at 3mph over the main channel.

July 3, 2007 - Lake Lanier - Water temp is getting up to the mid 80's. Fish are moving deep. There are a lot of fish between Gainesville Marina and Browns Bridge. On sunny days they are out cruising the river channel and we are catching them on downrod herring 30-60 ft over a 95-115 ft bottom. The leadcore bite is also starting to fire up. I have heard good reports trolling 2 oz bucktails tipped with herring 7-8 colors out at 3mph. U-rigs have been hit or miss right now for me. One day they eat them the next they don't. Overall fishing is pretty hot right now. Good luck.

June 18, 2007 - Lake Lanier - Fishing has been really good this past week. Lots of numbersbeing caught. Today between our 2 boats we caught over 60 fish mostly in the 5-8 pound range but a few in the mid teens. The downrod herring bite is still good in the mornings and the u-rigs are producing all day long. We have been fishing the 4 arm rigs loaded with white bucktails and chartreuse trailers pulling them 100-110 feet at 3 mph on main lake points. See the picture to the right. Downrod bite has been 15-30ft on points in the morning and 30-40ft over a 90-100ft bottom mid day.

June 5, 2007 - Lake Lanier - Water temp still trying to get to 80 degrees. The fish are starting to move to the summer pattern. We are catching fish on downrod herring 20-25ft over a 30-40ft bottom half way back in most creeks. Freelines will work early in the mornings. The lake is starting to turn over now and the north end is loaded with small stripers and spots. Mid lake and the south end are producing bigger fish. Both rivers are holding decent fish above the shallow water markers and are being caught on freelined shad. The river fish are hit or miss. Friday we caught 6 fish with the biggest at 23 pounds and Sunday all we could get was largemouth and a couple gar. Fishing should only get better from now till the end of summer on the south end.

May 12, 2007 - Lake Lanier - Fishing is good right now. Water temp is rising up to 80 degrees. We are catching fish on freelines in the morning on clay points in 5-15 feet of water and catching them on downrods after the sun gets up in 30-40 feet of water. For surfacing fish the redfin bite is still on if you can get close enough to them. The fish are scattered all over the lake right now. Today both of us boated some nice fish in the 15-20 pound range with a couple over 20.

April 2007 - Lake Lanier - Fishing has been both hot and cold.  the weather has been a major factor in our success.  The water finally warmed up in the middle of the month.  the Stripers started to move into shallow water and started their migration up the rivers for their spawning run.  Then we had a cold snap and everything changed.  The fish moved back into deeper water along with the bait.  We had to switch from Gizzard Shad to Blue Back Herring and changed our tactics from trolling to down roding.  As the water warms, the bait should move back into shallower water and the Stripers will follow.
